What a busy week for Ed 2020!  On Monday, we  had parents in for our mock interview practice.  Tuesday, we went to district office and interview with 11 professionals in Park Hill.  On Wednesday, we took our summative final and yesterday we tore down our entire classroom.  Today we had a party and watched our differentiation videos, take a look.

It has been such a fabulous semester.  Thanks for following us 🙂

Stay tuned for a new bunch of Ed 2020 interns on January 5th.

Have a safe and happy holiday.

Thursday, December 10 – Friday, December 11

Today in Ed 2020 we prepared for the first part of our summative final; our interview.

Sarah pulled out groups of 3 to 5 students to practice their interview questions.   When students weren’t with Sarah they were working on their teacher websites, 21st Century Lesson Plan, HIVE Lessons, Scope and Sequence, or Differentiation Songs.

All of our assignments are due on Monday morning at 7:30 am!  We better get back to work.

🙂

Tuesday, December 8

Students began the day by taking their verbal assessment on assessment.  Sarah checked in with each student on the progress of their CAPSTONE.

Bonnie Meyer, an Instructional Technology Facilitator, came and helped students work on their CAPSTONES and other technology related projects.

Monday, December 7

Today we discussed our last unit, assessment.  Students learned about three main types of assessment; assessment of learning, assessment for learning, and assessment as learning.

Students learned that data collection and all day assessing are two of the most important parts of being a teacher.

Students then learned the difference between summative, formative, diagnostic, standardized, formal, informal, criterion referenced, normed referenced, and performance based assessments.

Students will take a verbal assessment on assessment tomorrow!

Friday, December 3

Students began today by learning about the components of an effective lesson.  Sarah gave instruction on what each student needed to have in order to gain the interest of their students.

Students were then asked to use a Missouri Learning Standard to write five days of lesson plans 🙂

Wednesday, December 2 – Thursday, December 3

Today in Ed 2020 we learned how to effectively make a scope and sequence.  This is when we take a specific grade level and content area, and look at how we would teach it.

Students used Missouri Learning Standards, broke them into units, and then planned out a school year from August – May.  We knew there were about 170 days in a school year.  Students took the total number of days and divided by how many units they had.  This gave them about how many days they had to teach each unit.  We then prioritized and put our units on our calendar.

Tuesday, December 1

Today we continued to discuss instruction by investigating instructional strategies.  We used the beesburg website to learn about 52 different ways to give instruction during a lesson.

We also tied together using Missouri Learning Standards, differentiation and instructional strategies.

Finally, students also worked on their differentiation projects.  This is where students create lyrics about the different levels of differentiation and record it in a popular song.  Groups have picked songs by Hannah Montana, Drake, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo and   Ed Sheeran.

Can’t wait to see all our projects on Monday!

Monday, November 30

Today we began Unit 4, which revolves all around instruction.  We began by defining differentiation, individualization and personalization.   As future teachers we need to meet the needs of all our students by preparing lessons that meet our students individualized needs.
